Setup

Setting up the Esselbach Storyteller CMS

Now that you have uploaded and set permissions for your files you need to run the install script. You access the install script via your web publisher but typing in the appropriate URL. For example: http://www.yourwebsite.com/cadmin/cinstall.php

You will be presented with a web page to set the proper variables.

1) MYSQL CONFIGURATION - The installer will auto-detect your Basic Edition (Freeware) database and upgrade the tables for you. However, you may need a few pieces of information If you do not know this information, contact your ISP. They should be able to assist you.

a) Hostname: Usually localhost, however you can use the IP address of the server which your database resides.
b) Username: Your MySQL Username
c) Password: Your MySQL Passward
d) Database: You database name



Make a note of the installation information. To install a second website, (the Standard/Network Edition of the CMS is designed to run up to 99 websites concurrently), you will need to enter the database name of the first installation.

2) CREATE ADMIN USER

Choose the admin name and password, as well as the e-mail you would like to use for the admin account.

3) WEBSITE CONFIGURATION

Input the name of your site and the url to your site. For example http://www.yourwebsite.com

4) DOWNLOAD CONFIGURATION

The Esselbach Storyteller Standard/Network Edition can protect the files your offer for download from unauthorized access. It does this via encryption. For this to happen you must enter a unique checksum for your site. It can be anything you like but try not to make it something easily guessed.

5) OPTIONS
Options is only available on Standard/Network Edition.

Using Cache: This is recommended. Enabling with help greatly with server load and speed of access to your pages.
Enable Debug Mode: If you are having problems, enable this setting for a more verbose description.
Disable GZIP Output: Enabling GZIP output will reduce your bandwidth usage at your ISP, by compressing the pages prior to being sent. Disabling will increase the site load time.
Disable Stats: Select No for all site statistics for all site statistics.

Now just click SEND and you are ready to start!

Upgrading

To upgrade unzip your new files overwriting the existing files and then run the upgrade script through your browser. http://www.yourwebsite.com/cadmin/cupgrade.php

Be sure to delete both cinstall.php and cupgrade.php when you are done with them.
